McNeese State junior defensive back Janzen Jackson has been invited to the NFL Scouting Combine after he declared for the NFL Draft earlier this month.
Jackson played in nine games for the Cowboys and tallied 29 tackles, one tackle for loss, two interceptions, three pass breakups, and one forced fumble.
ording to sources, he did not start for McNeese due to trouble picking up the defense, but did contribute. His best game came against Lamar in a 45-17 season-finale win. He had six tackles, an 84-yard interception return for a touchdown, and three pass breakups.
Also according to sources, Jackson did not have a stable situation growing up and thus the reason he transferred from Tennessee. They claim he was a capable backup when needed and certainly has the ability but was not as good as the hype coming from Tennessee. They also said apparently Jackson came there only expecting to play one year and declare regardless but did not even tell the coaches. In light of this it will be interesting to see what is said behind closed doors on the situation.
He has dropped out of school and is preparing for the NFL Scouting Combine.
Jackson is currently 14th on the JBS Big Board with a 6th round projection but has a priority free agent grade due to off field concerns.
