RB DEJI KARIM, SOUTHERN ILLINOIS- MARCH 12, 2010

Dear Journal,

I finished up my week in Oklahoma stretching and doing light workouts for the pro day.  I drove up to Southern Illinois last Friday to cut down the drive to Northwestern.  I was in Southern Illinois working out and getting ready.  I talked to my coaches.

I got me a new little puppy two weeks ago and been taking care of that.

I woke up around 6 o’clock yesterday morning to stretch.  I was amped to get the day going.  I had been preparing for this day for a long time.  As soon as we got there I ran two 40s.  When we weighed in I was 209.7 so I was right where I wanted to be.  Then I ran the 40.  I could tell I did really well because after I ran it he said if I had ran that in a straight line it would have been faster.  The Colts scout was real impressed with me.  So were the Jaguars, Texans, Patriots, and Eagles.  I talked to almost every scout there but those were the ones who showed the most interest.  The Falcons as well.  I did my vertical and that surprised a lot of people.  It was just funny to see the looks on their faces.  I knew it was going to happen and I don’t think anyone else did so that was great when I jumped 43 inches.  I did my 3-cone and shuttle and like I said I had been preparing for all of those drills and I did what I felt I could do.  My trainer, Mike Gough, and my agents had confidence in me and it was up to me to go ahead and show it.  I am glad I lived up to the expectations.  I did alright in the position drills.  I should have slowed down a little bit but overall I had a great workout.  I am proud of myself and glad to get it out of the way.  Hopefully I have the eyes of teams.

I am looking forward to this next opportunity at Southern Illinois to go through position drills and after that it is just waiting until after the draft.  I will spend some time with me and my girlfriend’s puppy until then.
