26. SS Ron Parker, Newberry
HT: 6000
WT: 190
40: 4.53-4.59
CAREER SNAPSHOT: 2nd team All-American, 1st team All-SAC, DEF POY w/83 TT, 5.5 TFL, 6 INT/returned one for TD, 7 PBU, 2 FF in 10 gms in '09. 36 TT, 3 TFL in 10 gms in '08. Redshirted in '07. Transferred from Independent JC in Kansas for '07: Spent 2 yrs.
STRENGTHS: Good height and length. Very productive. Excellent ball skills. Plays the run well. Adequate closing speed. Very tough shown by playing through an injury last year. Good range. Active. Adequate open field tackler.
WEAKNESSES: Lacks elite speed. Needs to bulk up and get stronger. Some question his intelligence. Needs to be coached up more. Lacks highly fluid hips showing a little tightness. Does not consistently show out only flashing big play ability. Will occasionally miss a tackle.
ANALYSIS: Parker is a highly productive player who makes plays against the run and pass but will need to bulk up, get stronger, and work on his technique before he will be ready to be more than a practice squad or fringe player. If he is healthy and bulks up he has a real shot to go in the late rounds as he does possess NFL talent.
