JBS TOP 40 PROSPECT COUNTDOWN

When you go to newsstands and pick up preseason magazines most of them rank the top 25 or top 40 teams but we have decided to countdown our top 40 small school prospects with a brief look at each player.  Every day we will release a new player in our countdown.  Enjoy!

Kevin_Hughes25. OT/OG Kevin Hughes, Southeastern Louisiana

HT: 6035

WT: 297

40: 5.10-5.15

CAREER SNAPSHOT: HM All-Southland at LT in '09. HM All-Southland at RT in '08. Backup, 2 starts in '07. Redshirted in '06.

STRENGTHS: Adequate height and arm length.  Moves very well with a good burst off the line of scrimmage.  Good footwork.  Go initial setup with a good base.  Keeps a wide base in pass protection.  Versatile player who can play either tackle spot or even line up at guard.

WEAKNESSES: Lacks bulk for guard and ideal height for tackle.  Misses targets in open space.  Raw technique.  Lacks ideal thickness in the thighs but is adequate.  Doesn’t sustain his blocks.

ANALYSIS: Hughes is a talented developmental type prospect who needs to improve his technique and is a tweener but has good footwork and is versatile making him worth a look in the late rounds or as a priority free agent.

JBS PROJECTION: Priority Free Agent.

NFL PROJECTION: Borderline Draftable.
