There has been plenty of news this off-season and here is a look at just some of the top news in D2 as far as player movement. We will post more tidbits as we get them.
Grand Valley State RB Jimmy Berezik was suspended twice and is not returning to GVSU this fall. He was a first team All-GLIAC selection last season with 1,206 yards and four touchdowns rushing while catching 26 passes for 268 yards finishing his career as Grand Valley's all-time leading rusher.
Central Oklahoma S Giorgio Durham is not playing for UCO this fall which is unexpected and a big blow to the team after Durham earned first team All-America, first team All-LSC North, and LSC North DB of the Year honors in 2009. Durham tallied 66 tackles, eight interceptions, and six pass breakups in 2009.
Chadron State S Nick Milani will not return for the 2010 season after earning third team All-RMAC honors last season. He tallied 54 stops, 0.5 tackle for loss, three interceptions, two pass breakups, two forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery last season.
Southeastern Oklahoma QB Justin Pitrucha is no longer playing football. Pitrucha would have been a senior this year and he was a second team All-LSC North selection last season throwing for 1,981 yards, 17 touchdowns, and seven interceptions.
Shippensburg CB Travis Proctor was a first team All-PSAC East selection last year and had one more year of eligibility but has graduated and will not return for the 2010 season. He tallied 57 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, four interceptions, one touchdown, and nine pass breakups in nine games.
IUP LB Abe Satterfield, a former Iowa transfer, was convicted of a crime he committed at Iowa and is going to jail thus will not be returning to the team. He had 45 tackles, four tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, interception return for a touchdown, two pass breakups, and one forced fumble.
Former Temple CB Jamal Schulters had transferred to C.W. Post earlier in the spring and was expected to be a NFL prospect but has been taken off the roster. We don't know any details other than the fact he is not returning. Schulters was a standout at Temple before getting into trouble and could be a dominant player wherever he lands.
Nebraska-Kearney OLB Chris Senkbile will not be returning for the 2010 season. Senkbile was a third team All-RMAC selection last year with 59 tackles, nine tackles for loss, two sacks, six pass breakups, and one quarterback hurry.
Central Washington CB Anthony Stewart will not return for 2010 after he totaled 47 tackles (fourth on the team), four tackles for loss, one interception, and six pass breakups in 13 games last year.
Winston Salem State DE Akeem Ward will sit out the 2010 season due to grades. Ward led the team with 70 tackles in 2009 while also posting a team-high 11.5 tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks, three hurries, and one fumle recovery.
