At Northwestern today, Southern Illinois RB Deji Karim measured in at 5086, 209 pounds and ran a 4.40 and 4.43 in the 40-yard dash. He jumped a 43-inch vertical, 10'3 broad jump, and completed 19 reps on the bench press. We have not received his short shuttle or 3-cone yet but we know the scouts asked him to run the short shuttle twice because they were so impressed with the first one.
His 40-yard dash, vertical, broad jump, and bench reps put him in the top 5 among running backs at the combine and his vertical would have been the best overall.
This workout improves his chances of being draft and likely places him in the 5th-6th round range. After the workout everyone wanted to talk with him compared to just a couple of teams prior to it. |
