RB TAIWAN JONES, EASTERN WASHINGTON
JOURNAL 3– MARCH 2, 2011
Dear Journal,
The goal going in was to get my bench up. I only did 6 reps when I got to AP and my goal was to get 13-15. I was able to get 13. My next goal is to get 15-17 at my pro day. I measured in at 6000, 194 pounds. I wanted to be 195 so I was close. I was only 178 a few weeks ago so that is big for me.
They kept me busy the whole week. I had a lot of interviews and a lot of tests. I had more than most who were there. When everyone else had down time I had a lot of tests and a lot of meetings. I spent a lot of time at the hospital getting x-rays for teams. They definitely kept me busy. The positive thing is the interest and I was able to keep a positive attitude. It was fun for me. They like to wake you up early and keep you busy but doing it for NFL teams kept me motivated. I tried to meet with as many teams as I can. When I was done with those I went to train station and met with other teams. I met with at least 15 different teams. I had formal meetings with the Cowboys, Bucs, Dolphins, Packers, Falcons, Lions, Eagles, Jets, Giants, Bengals, and Texans among others. If I did not have a formal meeting with the team I at least talked to them.
My doctor told me to wait so I just watched during the drills. That was very humbling for me. Next to watching my teammates play in the national championship it hurt so much not to participate. It was real motivation watching my competition compete. Since I couldn’t compete I just have to workout at my pro day. It added more fire to the flame because I am so hungry for this and it was just a humbling experience.
My pro day is April 1st at EWU. I was going to go to Washington’s but they turned it down so I will just do EWU.
Talk to you in a couple weeks!
